The next morning the smoke from the nearby forest fires had gotten worse. That night, in the light of our headlamps, you really got a sense of how much ash was in the air. It was if we were in someone’s dusty attic that hadn’t been explored in a decade. If you look at other pictures of Lake McDonald you’ll really get a sense of how thick the smoke was during our visit.
